Srinagar, April 18: Voting for the second phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 took place on April 18. Polling took place on two seats of Jammu and Kashmir - Srinagar and Udhampur. Voting began for these two Lok Sabha constituencies at 7 am and ended at 6 pm today. The state recorded a total voter turnout of 45.28 per cent. While Srinagar  recorded a voter turnout of just 14.08 per cent, Udhampur witnessed 69.54 per cent polling. Security had been tightened in the valley for the Srinagar and Udhampur Parliamentary polls. Among voters who made headlines was a newly-married couple who went straight to a polling booth from their wedding venue in Udhampur to cast their vote. Meanwhile, NC candidate Farooq Abdullah also cast his vote along with Omar Abdullah in Srinagar.

The Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency has a total of 4,68,822 registered voters and 596 service voters. Newly-Married Couple Heads Straight to Polling Booth After Wedding Ceremony in Udhampur

The Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency has a total of 480246 general registered voters and 11654 service voters. A total of 709 polling booths have been set up across Udhampur. The candidates for the 2019 poll on the Udhampur seat include Dr Jitendra Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tilak Raj Bhagat of the BSP and Vikramaditya Singh of the Congress.

Two seats - Baramulla and Jammu - had gone to polls in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls on April 11. The state recorded a voter turnout of 57.35 per cent.

Lok Sabha Elections 2019 are taking place in India in the months of April and May. While voting will take place in seven phases between April 11 and May 19, the counting of votes will take place on May 23.
