New Delhi, January 6: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday slammed Narendra Modi-led Union government for chaos in the national capital was witnessed in the Jawaharlal Nehru University. She condemned the attack on students and compared the situation with 'fascist surgical strike'.

Expressing her opinion, the West Bengal CM said that Delhi Police should be transferred under Arvind Kejriwal government. She said, as quoted by news agency ANI, "Delhi's Police is not under Arvind Kejriwal rather it is under Central Govt. On one side they have sent the BJP goons & on the other side they made the Police inactive. What can Police do if they are directed by higher authority. This is a fascist surgical strike." Ms Banerjee also called the attacks on JNU students and professors as 'disturbing' and called this a planted attack. She added, "It is very disturbing, it is a dangerous planted attack on democracy. Anyone who speaks against them is labelled a Pakistani and an enemy of the country. We never saw such a situation in the country before this."

Earlier in the day, reports arrived that Registrar and Pro-VC of JNU already met LG Anil Baijal and apprised him of the situation. Police also stated that they are scanning the CCTV footage and will take action accordingly. Also, AIIMS and Safdarjung hospital administration have stated that they have discharged 35 students who were admitted after the violence.
