Bengaluru, July 25: Two days the Congress-Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) lost trust vote in the Karnataka Assembly, speaker KR Ramesh Kumar on Thursday disqualified Independent MLA R Shankar. He was elected from Ranebennur constituency in the assembly elections. Shankar was disqualified till the end of the term of the 15th legislative Assembly.

Earlier on July 21, Shankar and other independent MLA H Nagesh had moved the Supreme Court seeking a direction for conducting a floor test. The legislators had accused the government of taking advantage of the logjam and taking several executive decisions like transferring of police officers, IAS officers, other officials.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is yet to stake claim to form the government in the state. Following the trust vote on Tuesday, BJP state President B S Yeddyurappa said that he will meet Governor Vajubhai Vala to stake his claim to form the government in Karnataka after consulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Congress-JDS Rebel MLAs to Return to Bengaluru After BS Yeddyurappa Takes Oath as Karnataka CM: Reports.

However, caretaker Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that no one can provide a stable government in the state in the current political scenario. The Congress-JDS government lost the trust vote in the Vidhana Soudha by six votes. The coalition government received only 99 votes while the 105 legislators voted against it.
