Kendrapara is one of the key Lok Sabha constituencies of Odisha. The voting for the parliamentary polls 2019 on this seat will take place in the fourth phase on April 29. The scrutiny of nominations papers took place on April `10. Meanwhile, the last date of withdrawal of candidature was April 12. In 2014 elections, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Baijayant Panda defeated Congress candidate Dharanidhar Nayak by a margin of 2,09,108 votes. While, BJP candidate Bishnu Prasad Das came at the third spot. In 2009 also, Panda had won the seat. However, ahead of the upcoming polls, Panda joined the BJP.
