The Raj Thackeray-led MNS had announced last month that it would be contesting the state assembly polls. The announcement came days after there was ambiguity on whether the party would be entering the polling fray. In the Lok Sabha polls held in April-May, the Marathi-centric party did not contest, but extended support to the Opposition alliance of Congress-NCP combine.
