According to the ECI, voting in the 14 parliamentary constituencies of Jharkhand will be held in the 4th phase, 5th phase, 6th phase and 7th phases of the general elections. Three seats will be contested on April 29; four constituencies on May 6; four Lok Sabha segments on May 12; and three seats on May 19. The results will be declared on May 23.

Of the 14 Jharkhand Lok Sabha constituencies, three – Chatra, Loherdaga and Palamu – will vote on April 29, the first phase of elections in the state. Still, the much-coveted, Chatra is sticking out like a sore thumb for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The state unit of the party has failed to recommend a ā€œwinning candidateā€ for the seat.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Vishnu Dayal Ram of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won the seat by defeating Manoj KumarĀ of the Rashtriya Janata Dalparty. The BJP candidate, who is the current MP of the constituency, had won the seat by 476,513 votes.
