Kollam, January 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flayed the Left government in Kerala while addressing a  BJP rally on Tuesday in Kollam. Launching a blistering attack on the Pinarayi Vijayan-led state government, Modi said their stand on the sensitive issue of Sabarimala has been "shameful".

The PM claimed that the BJP would continue to uphold the religious and cultural traditions of Kerala, despite being confronted with the violence of the CPI(M). "For every bomb they throw on us, for every stone they hit at out workers, for each form of their violence, our resolve turns stronger to end their undemocratic rule," Modi said. Amit Shah Backs Sabarimala Devotees, Slams Kerala Government.

Targeting CPI(M)'s "ideology" for the row which erupted at Sabarimala, Modi said the communists have always shown apathy towards the religion, the Indian culture and the country's traditions.

"The conduct of Kerala's LDF government on Sabarimala issue will go down in history as one of the most shameful behaviour by any party and government. We knew that communists do not respect Indian history, culture and spirituality but nobody imagined that they will have such hatred," the Prime Minister told the gathering of BJP cadres.

The PM's angst against the Kerala government comes in the backdrop of the latter's decision to implement a recent Supreme Court verdict which allowed women in their menstrual age of entering the sanctum sanctorum of the Sabarimala temple.

Modi said the Congress should equally be blamed as it has exposed a dual stand on the issue. In Delhi, the Prime Minister added, the Congress leaders advocate the entry of women in the temple, whereas, they oppose the same while speaking on the issue in Kerala.

"UDF is no better. Congress has multiple stands - they say one thing in Parliament but a different thing in Pathanamthitta. Our stand on this issue has always been clear. And, the actions of our party match our words," he added.
