Jaipur, December 11: The counting of votes for Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018 is taking place today. The people of Rajasthan are known to change government every election and that means the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government here led by Vasundhara Raje could well be on its way out. The exit polls too are somewhat in sync with this trend as most of them are indicating a Congress victory in the desert state. Some of the big names like ABP News-CSDS and Times Now-CNX have all presented a rosy picture for the Rahul Gandhi-led Congress indicating the party will easily cross 100 seats. Anti-Incumbency is the most critical factor surrounding elections in Rajasthan, and no government usually survives its ill effects. Counting of votes in the state along with Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Telangana will be held on Tuesday. 199 seats out of the 200-assembly seat went to poll.

The exit polls gave a clear edge to the Indian National Congress. The victory which is highly likely will be a big boost for the Congress who has seen its fortunes dwindle since the inception of Narendra Modi on the national scene. Its local leadership led by Sachin Pilot and former CM Ashok Gehlot are two of the star men and the most likely CM candidate. The victory could see a power tussle between the two leaders who also happen to enjoy the backing of their support groups at both the local and central level. The BJP has been cornered in Rajasthan where the Padmavat and environmental issues have added to their woes.

Who's Leading and Who's Winning in Rajasthan?

Some of the key constituencies like Tonk and Jhalrapatan will be under scrutiny as both BJP and Congress have heavyweights in the fray. Tonk sees Sachin Pilot against popular BJP leader Yunus Khan while Manvendra Singh of Congress looks set to give a close fight to chief minister Vasundhara Raje in Jhalrapatan. There are 2000 candidates in total vying for 200 assembly seats as Rajasthan waits to find out about its new elected lawmakers. The results of all constituencies will be displayed as and when they get declared by the Election Commission of India.
