New Delhi, April 30: Minutes after a fire broke out at Shastri Bhawan in Delhi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi made a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi accused PM Narendra Modi burning files in disguise of a fire incident. Shastri Bhawan, a government building, houses Ministries of Law, Information and Broadcasting, Corporate Affairs, Chemicals and Petrochemicals and Human Resources Development.

"Modi ji burning files is not going to save you. Your day of judgement is coming," Gandhi tweeted. His tweet came minutes after a fire erupted at Shastri Bhawan on Tuesday afternoon. The Delhi fire department said they received a call about the blaze at 2:15 PM after which seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was later brought under control by 2.55 PM. No injury or casualty has been reported.

Rahul Gandhi's tweet on Shastri Bhawan fire:

The reason for the fire is presumed to be due to a short circuit. However, the exact cause of the blaze was not immediately known. There were incidents when important files were burnt in the fire. A major fire at Maharashtra's Mantralay in 2012 had reportedly destroyed thousands of sensitive documents, computer files and records. However, the then Congress-NCP government in the state had denied the conspiracy angle.
