Agartala, September 2: The voting for Bhadarghat Assembly constituency in Tripura will be held on September 23. The Congress has fielded Ratan Das as its candidate for ensuing by-election to the Legislative Assembly of Tripura from Badharghat Constituency. Along with Bhadarghat, polling will also be held in Dantewada seat in Chhattisgarh, Pala in Kerala, and Hamirpur seat in Uttar Pradesh. The counting of votes will take place on September 27 and the results will be declared on the same day. By-Elections to 4 Assembly Seats in Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh to be Held on September 23.

In the last month, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced the dates of the by-polls for the four legislative assembly constituencies.  According to reports, the polling in Bhadarghat seat in Tripura was necessitated following the death sitting MLA Dilip Sarkar.

After the ECI announcement of the election dates, a model code of conduct came into effect in these constituencies. According to reports,  September 4 is the last date for filing nominations and they will be scrutinised on September 5. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is September 7.

In the Hamirpur seat in Uttar Pradesh, the former BJP MLA Ashok Chandel was convicted in the murder case of five persons and was awarded a lifer. In Pala seat in Kerala, voting has been necessitated owing to the demise of sitting Kerala Congress-M legislator KM Mani, the by-election became a necessity. Meanwhile, in Dantewada in Chhattisgarh, by-election has been scheduled after sitting BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi was allegedly killed by Naxals in April earlier this year.
