Mumbai, October 10: The upcoming assembly election in Maharashtra's Umarkhed Vidhan Sabha seat will see a fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. For the 2019 assembly polls, the BJP replaced its sitting MLA from Umarkhed Rajendra Waman Najardhane with Namdev Jayram Sasane. The Congress fielded Khadase Vijayrao Yadavrao who was a legislator from Umarkhed from 2009 to 2014. According to the seat-sharing deal for the Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP has 164 of 288 total seats in its kitty, while its ally Shiv Sena is contesting 124 seats. The Congress and the NCP decided to fight 125 seats each. According to the schedule of Maharashtra polls announced by the Election Commission, voting will take place at as many as 90,403 polling stations on October 7. The Election Commission will announce results on October 24. The term of Maharashtra assembly ends on November 9. The BJP, in 2014 Maharashtra assembly elections, emerged as single largest party winning 122 seats. The Shiv Sena bagged 63 seats, whereas the Congress won 42. The NCP could win 41 seats. Bahujan Vikash Aghadi and the PWP won three seats each. AIMIM candidates emerged victorious from two constituencies.
Communist Party of India (Marxist), Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh, Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Rashtriya Samaj Paksha and Samajwadi Party won one seat each. Seven Independents were also elected.
