However, astronomical forecasts from the International Astronomical Centre suggest that the moon may be difficult to see on Wednesday, making Friday, March 20, the more likely date for the first day of Shawwal in the Gulf.

Chand Raat 2026 Date in India

In India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, where Ramadan began a day later, the moon sighting - traditionally known as Chand Raat - is scheduled for Thursday, March 19.

  • Scenario A: If the moon is sighted on Thursday evening, Eid 2026 will be celebrated on Friday, March 20.

  • Scenario B: If the moon is not visible, the month of Ramadan will complete 30 days, and Eid 2026 will fall on Saturday, March 21.
