Today, April 6, the whole world is celebrating Ugadi, the New Year's eve for the people of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. Ugadi is not only popular in these states but across the country. The festival is celebrated on the first day of the Hindu calendar month of Chaitra. To share the joy and happiness, many politicals have extended their wishes including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan among others.

PM Narendra Modi in a tweet said, "Ugadi greetings to everyone! I pray that this auspicious occasion leads to the fulfilment of all your aspirations." Meanwhile, Gudi Padwa, also known as Gudhi Padwa, the Marathi new year is also celebrated today. This day is celebrated as a popular festival in Maharashtra and Goa.
