Mumbai, June 07: The Muslim community observe the ritual of Roza (a type of fasting the followers of Islam follow) during the holy month of Ramzan. This year, the month of Ramadan ul-Kareem began during the period of mid-May in large parts of the Indian subcontinent. The Muslim community which sighted the crescent moon on 29th Sha’ban began their Rozas from May 17. However, those who couldn’t, began it a day later, on May 18. People in India, due to their geographical locations, observe both the rituals at different times. For the people in Delhi, their Sehri time will end at 04.07 am, whereas the Iftar time will begin at 07.18 pm.

The residents of Mumbai city will see their Sehri time end at 04.52 am, and their Iftar time is slated to begin at 07.15 pm. The Muslim people living in Bhopal city, their Sehri time will end at 04.23 am, whereas their Iftar time will begin at 07.05 pm. In Srinagar, the Muslim community will end the ritual of observing Sehri at 03.55 am, and their Iftar ritual will begin at 07.41 pm.

When will the Eid Moon be sighted?

The Muslim people living in Australia, Maldives, Malaysia, Singapore, Pakistan, Middle East, and large parts of India will attempt to sight the moon on June 14. If they are successful in their attempt, they will mark the Eid-al-Fitr celebrations on June 15.

However, Bangladesh and parts of India - Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal, and Assam – would attempt to see the crescent moon on June 15. If they are able to sight the moon, then the auspicious festival will be celebrated on June 16; otherwise, the festival of Eid-al-Fitr will be observed on June 17.
