As the monsoon hits Mumbai hard, the most feared infection has returned with it. A 26-year-old Mumbai woman residing in Govandi has been infected with the virus. H1N1, or commonly known as Swine Flu has taken 191 lives in Maharashtra this year. The woman was admitted to KEM hospital on July 8 after experiencing breathlessness. 1. Get Vaccinated

Even if you’re vaccinated, get vaccinated again this season. Try to do this every season to stay fit all the time. Your seasonal flu vaccines don’t protect from swine flu all the time. Make sure to get the swine flu vaccination. Get both vaccinations.

2. Drink Boiled Water

3. Sanitise More

Carry a sanitiser everywhere and try using it as much as you can. A face mask isn’t enough. If you’re carrying germs then it can still contaminate things you consume. Use a sanitiser before eating anything and try to wash your hands. Washing your hands frequently is better but sanitiser is the time friendly way.

4. Don’t Get Food From Outside

In the words of our parents, don’t eat from outside. Try to cook for yourself and eat at home as much as possible. We can’t be sure of hygiene and the water being used in the food we buy from restaurants.

5. Stay Home If You’re Sick

If you feel like you have flu-like symptoms, stay home. Even if you have work, try not to get out in public to avoid spreading your germs in the crowd. Visit your doctor as soon as possible and don’t go out in crowded places till you’re treated.

In 2009, the World Health Organization called swine flu a pandemic. People are still affected by swine flu but the number isn’t as high as 2009. While, it is scary, it can be avoided by being a little cautious about tiny things.
