New Delhi, May 18: E-commerce website Amazon on Saturday launched a flight booking service in India. Users of Amazon app can access the flight booking service on the Amazon Pay dashboard. The service is also available on the Amazon.in website. The e-retailer has partnered with online travel and leisure activities platform Cleartrip to launch the service.
"We're delighted to add domestic flight bookings enabling customers to do more with their Amazon app and for prime members to get more value from their membership," Shariq Plasticwala, Director, Amazon Pay, said in a statement. "We are excited to partner with Cleartrip and share their passion of creating best in class travel experiences," Plasticwala added. Amazon Rolls out Kindle Lite App in Kenya.
Amazon said it would not levy any additional charges in case customers cancel the ticket. They would only have to pay the airline cancellation penalty, the company said. Cleartrip will handle all the post-booking support for the consumers. The company also offers Amazon Pay cashbacks starting between Rs 800-2,000 for Prime customers and Rs 400-1,600 for non-Prime customers. Amazon users can book seats in domestic flights of leading airlines including SpiceJet, Air India, GoAir, Indigo, Air Asia, and Vistara. Other payment services such as Paytm and Google have already ventured into the travel space. While Google offers train ticket booking service, Paytm has train tickets, flight tickets as well as hotel bookings.
