AI Weight Loss Plan Goes Wrong: Content Creator Loses 20 Kg in 45 Days, Nearly Dies After Multiple Organ Failure

A 34-year-old Chinese content creator reportedly lost 20 kilograms in 45 days after following an AI-generated diet and exercise plan, but later developed septic shock and multiple organ dysfunction. Doctors linked his condition to extreme calorie restriction, strenuous exercise, dehydration and an already weakened immune system, warning that AI cannot assess individual physiological limits.

A 34-year-old Chinese content creator reportedly lost 20 kilograms in 45 days after following an AI-generated diet and exercise plan, but the extreme regimen was followed by a medical emergency that left him in intensive care. According to domestic media outlet Sichuan Daily, Chen developed septic shock and multiple organ dysfunction after continuing strenuous exercise while unwell.

Chen, who weighed 120 kilograms, had turned to an AI tool after deciding to lose weight, Sichuan Daily reported. The plan prescribed severe calorie restriction along with lengthy daily exercise sessions. Doctors later said his existing sleep deprivation, restricted food intake, strenuous workouts and dehydration had placed significant stress on his body. Brazilian Influencer Kauana Bilhar Dies at 27 After Fall From Dubai Tower Days After Engagement; Family Demands Answers.

AI Diet Plan Goes Wrong: From 120 Kg To 100 Kg In 45 Days

Chen works as a content creator and reportedly routinely stays up late while maintaining a high-fat, high-salt diet. His weight eventually reached 120 kilograms, prompting him to seek a way to lose weight. After conducting online research, he asked an AI tool to create what he considered a "scientific" weight-loss plan.

The algorithm reportedly advised him to climb stairs for 90 minutes every day and play badminton twice a week, with each session lasting two to three hours. The plan also reportedly instructed him to continue exercising without pausing even when his clothes were completely soaked with sweat. Brazilian Content Creator Bianca Dias Dies at 20 Days After Undergoing Cosmetic Surgery.

His diet was similarly restrictive. Breakfast consisted of two eggs, half a steamed bun and a glass of milk. Lunch included 75 grams of beef and 75 grams of vegetables, while dinner consisted of a single serving of yogurt. After 45 days, Chen had lost 20 kilograms.

Illness Followed By Medical Emergency

Chen later caught a cold but continued following his exercise routine. His condition subsequently deteriorated and he was taken to hospital. According to the report, he had become incoherent by the time he arrived and later slipped into a coma.

Medical tests found that Chen was suffering from septic shock, a severe systemic inflammatory response triggered by infection. The condition subsequently led to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, Sichuan Daily reported.

"Had he been brought in a few hours later, he might have been beyond rescue," the physician said. Doctors intervened to stabilise Chen and pull him back from the critical condition.

Doctor Explains How The Regimen Affected His Body

Cao Lianghai, deputy director of the intensive care unit at the treating hospital, said Chen's chronic sleep deprivation had already weakened his immune system's self-regulating capacity. According to Cao, the extreme calorie restriction further suppressed immune function, while high-intensity exercise triggered persistent inflammatory responses.

The combination, he said, pushed Chen's immune system toward collapse. Cao also said strenuous exercise combined with fasting caused severe dehydration. This, in turn, triggered an acute kidney stone attack, which caused a blockage and urinary tract infection. The infection ultimately resulted in a systemic inflammatory response, according to the doctor.

Doctor Warns About Limits Of AI-Generated Health Advice

The case has raised questions about the limitations of relying on AI-generated advice for highly individualised health and fitness decisions. "AI can calculate calorie deficits, yet it cannot gauge the true physiological limits of the human body," the doctor warned.

Chen's experience also highlights the risks of following a generic diet or exercise programme without accounting for an individual's existing health, sleep patterns, nutritional needs and physical condition.

While Chen achieved rapid weight loss, the reported medical complications demonstrate why aggressive calorie restriction and high-intensity exercise can carry risks, particularly when undertaken without appropriate medical supervision.
