The incident, captured in a vlog by content creator Nishant Kumar, led to substantial repair costs estimated in the lakhs of rupees.
How the Vehicles Became Stranded
Kumar had recently taken delivery of the Audi Q3 Sportback and traveled to the Puri-Konark area with the Mercedes for cinematic shots, including an “unveil” sequence. The group was staying at a resort between Konark and Puri and headed to a beach trail for the shoot. A private beach access was closed due to an approaching storm that had left the path slushy.
While maneuvering the Audi on the soft, wet sand, the vehicle sank. Kumar later explained that the door was not fully closed when he accelerated, causing the front wheels to spin while the rears did not engage properly. Efforts to free the Audi by attaching a rope and using the Mercedes GLS 450D only resulted in the second vehicle also becoming stuck. Both cars sank further, with the Audi’s chassis resting tightly against the sand and water entering the vehicles. Rescue With a Tractor
Local help was summoned, and a tractor arrived about 15 minutes after being called. The tractor successfully pulled both the Audi and the Mercedes out of the sand. The vehicles were then driven away, though the Mercedes showed immediate problems. Aftermath and damage
The Audi continued to operate normally. The Mercedes, however, displayed multiple warning lights, restricted the engine response, and limited top speed. Kumar attributed the issues to sand and water entering the air filters, both the cabin and engine units, after waves reached deep into the vehicle. He noted that such damage is typically not covered under warranty.

In the vlog, Kumar reflected that the situation combined high stress with the need for quick problem-solving. He stated that the group later arranged roadside assistance for the Mercedes and planned to have it taken to a workshop. The creator said he would avoid similar risks in future shoots, emphasizing that expensive vehicles should be treated carefully rather than pushed for dramatic footage. Both vehicles were recovered without injury to those involved.
