A series of shocking images of nearly 50 dead whales headlined all over internationals recently, worrying the sea life enthusiasts. It was tourists from the United States, who on their helicopter sightseeing tour, spotted the devastating sight on a remote beach in Iceland. The pilot reported there could be more dead bodies of the majestic pilot whales, already buried in the sand. The authorities were alerted last Thursday but the details were made public only late Saturday, July 20, 2019. Reykjavik Helicopters, Iceland’s popular helicopter tour provider reported the disheartening scene. On a sightseeing tour, the pilot, reportedly identified as David Schwarzhans along with his passenger counted around 50 long-finned pilot whales washed up on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland. He intended to show the visitors the sea animals, but was met with the disastrous scene. However, some experts are suggesting that the whales have swum ashore at the same time and died of dehydration. Pilot whales belong to the dolphin family and are only exceeded in size by the killer whale. They can found in many parts of the world, especially in the North Atlantic Ocean around Canada, Greenland, Iceland and Norway.
