It is yet another proud moment for the people in India as December 4 marks the observance of Navy Day. On this day, the role and achievements of the Naval Forces are recognised and honoured. The reason December 4 was chosen for the national event, was that on the same day in 1971 during Operation Trident, the Indian Navy sank four Pakistani vessels including PNS, Khaibar, killing hundreds of Pakistani Navy personnel. On Navy Day, those who were killed in the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971 are also remembered. As we observe the Indian Navy Day 2019 today, people take to Twitter to pay their tribute to the Naval Forces and their achievements. The social media platform is surfaced with Navy Day 2019 tweets dedicated to the armed force. Indian Navy Day 2019: WhatsApp Stickers, Quotes, SMS and Messages for the Day That Honours Country’s Naval Forces.

Various events are planned for Navy Day 2019. During the days leading up to Navy Day, Navy Week is observed before that. Ships are also open to visitors and school children. Yesterday, on December 3, the Indian Naval forces held up a press conference where the chief, Karambir Singh announced that India’s first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier – I (IAC-I) INS Vikrant will become fully operational by 2022 and would operate with the MiG-29K. “50 warships and submarines of the Indian Navy are under construction of which 48 are on order in Indian shipyards,” he added further.

Every year, a different theme is set to mark Navy Day. For 2019, the theme is “Indian Navy - Silent, Strong and Swift.” The Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology (NIAT) also conducts a community service at Good Hope Old Age Home, Fort Kochi in which the students from the Nacy School take turns to entertain the inmates and Naval doctors. Aside from all the celebrations, we thank the forces for monitoring the coasts so that the citizens can live peacefully. Their fearless contributions towards the country will always be revered.
