Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), Australia tweeted the heart-warming incident. A Gold Coast resident identified as Ron was being transported to a palliative care. When his wife, Sharon mentioned that he had barely eaten anything for over two days, the officers observing Ron asked if he was craving for something. Ron told them that he wanted McD’s caramel sundae. There you go! The Australian paramedics were quick to fulfil his wish, stopping at a local outlet to get him his ice cream and also snapping a photo in the process.

A spoon and a cup in hand, enjoying his ice cream in the ambulance!

One of the medics explained the moment to the Brisbane Times, “He was (rapt), he was getting it all over his face, getting it all over his shirt, he had a big smile on his face and his wife was tearing up because she was so pleased to see him eating.”

Ron’s daughter, Danielle Smith, said in the same report that her father had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2001 and lately his diet had primarily consisted of caramel sundaes. Well, he had definitely loved them! “He’ll never say no to a caramel sundae,” said daughter Danielle. Ron’s wife, Mrs McCartney contacted QAS later to thank them for their support not just in the final journey of her husband but through their earlier interactions to the couple’s home. The caramel sundae was the last thing he ate with joy and passed away on September 1, 2018.
