Robot Runs For Mayoral Candidate in Japan! AI Politician Promises Fair and Balanced Politics
The AI Mayor is campaigning for the elections, just like any other contender.
While everyone is talking about artificial intelligence going to take up most of the human jobs, nobody thought even a Mayor's position would go to a robot. Although robots cannot run for high-ranking public administration positions, a mayoral candidate running for municipal elections in Tama City is artificial intelligence. The AI Mayor which is already trying its best to lure citizens has promised 'fair and balanced policies that will benefit everyone'.
According to a report in Oddity Central, promising to bring necessary changes, human candidate Michihito Matsuda who is actually running for the elections said on Twitter, "For the first time in the world, AI will run in an election. Artificial intelligence will change Tama City. With the birth of an AI-Mayor, we will conduct impartial and balanced politics. We will implement policies for the future with speed, accumulate information and know-how, and lead the next generation."

Matsuda ran for the mayoral position of Tama City in 2014, but lost by a large margin. So, this time he has come up with a new avatar to gain voters.
The AI Mayor is campaigning for the elections, just like any other contender in Tama City. Posters and campaign messages can be seen at the city's various public places. While some voters are excited about the robot becoming the Mayor, others said it must not be forgotten that after all, it will be the human candidate who will sit on the Mayor's chair. Elections for Tama City will be held on April 15.
