The Uttar Pradesh Police recovered the body from the mosque, which is situated near the eastern gate of the Taj Mahal. Devotees who arrived at the mosque for afternoon prayers first spotted the body and promptly informed the police. Upon arrival, the police initiated an investigation into the incident. Preliminary suspicions suggest that the woman may have been raped before being killed, and her body subsequently dumped inside the mosque. The police have launched a full-scale probe into the incident to ascertain the circumstances leading to the woman’s death.
