Bandi Sanjay Surrenders Son to Police in POCSO Case, Says ‘All Are Equal Before Law’
Union minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar hands over son Bandi Bhageerath to Telangana police in a POCSO case, a day after High Court denied interim protection from arrest.
Union minister and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday handed over his son Bandi Bhageerath to the police in connection with a Protection of Children from S*xual Offences (POCSO) case, saying he has full respect for the law and the judiciary. "Today, I handed over my son Bandi Bhageerath to the police through an advocate for investigation. All are equal before the law. My son has consistently maintained that he has committed no wrongdoing," Bandi Sanjay said. The former BJP Telangana unit chief explained that the surrender was delayed as legal teams were examining evidence and had indicated that bail would be granted in the case. The development came a day after the Telangana High Court refused to grant Bhageerath interim protection from arrest, leaving the family with little option but to proceed with the surrender. Bandi Sanjay maintained that all evidence had been handed over to the legal team and expressed confidence in the judicial process. The POCSO Act deals with s*xual offences against minors and carries stringent legal provisions. Police are currently conducting further investigation into the case.
