Former Congress spokesperson and now National Spokesperson of the BJP, Jaiveer Shergill, has taken a swipe at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for what he perceives as a mathematical miscalculation. Shergill asserted that Congress secured a 19.5% vote share in the 2019 elections and went on to emphasise the invitations extended to prominent Congress figures, including former PM Dr Manmohan Singh, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, and Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to the G20 dinner. In his remarks, Shergill suggested that if Rahul Gandhi does not consider these leaders as reasonable voices within the Congress party, it is his problem. He further criticised the Opposition, particularly the Congress, for missing a crucial opportunity to rise above petty politics and join in applauding India, as other world leaders have done. Shergill's remarks underline the BJP's stance that the Congress's allegations of exclusion are unfounded, and he concludes by humorously suggesting that "the joke is on the Congress party." Notably, Jaiveer Shergill, a former spokesperson and member of the Congress party, switched his allegiance to the BJP in December 2022. G20 Dinner Invite: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Not Invited for Dinner To Be Hosted by President Droupadi Murmu.
