The single bench of Justice Sanjay Mehare observed that the convict was 18 years old in April 2013 when the accident occurred. Back then, the accused mowed down a woman while driving his new motorcycle for the first time.
The Bombay High Court on Monday, July 15, ordered the release of a convict who mowed a woman with his bike in the city, stating he has a "bright future". While ordering the convict's release under the Probation of Offenders Act, the court upheld his conviction under charges of causing death by negligence. The single bench of Justice Sanjay Mehare observed that the convict was 18 years old in April 2013 when the accident occurred. Back then, the accused mowed down a woman while driving his new motorcycle for the first time. The woman who suffered serious injuries in the accident succumbed in the hospital. "In the ordinary course, he had no reason to take the vehicle away from the road and cause an accident. His age and the way in which the accident happened are the peculiar facts to be considered in this case. He has a bright future," the court stated.
