Strong tremors were felt across Kolkata and nearby districts on Friday morning after a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Bangladesh, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The tremors, felt around 10:10 am, lasted nearly 30 seconds, prompting residents to rush out of homes and offices in panic. Large parts of South Bengal experienced the shaking. Videos soon surfaced on social media showing ceiling lights and household items swaying inside homes.
