Seven additional patients, four of whom were children, died late last night at the Maharashtra government hospital in Nanded, which grabbed national headlines yesterday after 24 fatalities in 24 hours. This brings the total number of deaths in the Shankarrao Chavan Government Hospital in the last 48 hours to 31. Sixteen of the 31 deceased patients were reportedly infants. Meanwhile, the hospital's dean, Dr Shyamrao Wakode, has denied claims of medical malpractice.
