'Plea Will Open Doors to Parents Who Get Cold Feet in Last Minute': Supreme Court Directs Medical Examination of Petitioner After Married Woman Seeks Termination of 24-Week Pregnancy
In her petition, the pregnant woman, who is a mother of two children, told the Supreme Court that she is suffering from Lactational Amenorrhea and post-partum depression. She also said that she and her husband are not in a position to raise a third child.
The Supreme Court came down heavily on a couple after a married sought termination of her 24-week pregnancy of her 3rd child. The woman sought medical termination of her pregnancy, citing health conditions. While considering a plea for medical termination of pregnancy of a married woman, the apex court said that if such a plea is allowed, it will open the doors of the Supreme Court to parents who get "cold feet" in the last minute. In her petition, the pregnant woman, who is a mother of two children, told the Supreme Court that she is suffering from Lactational Amenorrhea and post-partum depression. She also said that she and her husband are not in a position to raise a third child.
