In a significant move, The government has officially renamed Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, as "Sri Vijaya Puram." Home Minister Amit Shah made the announcement on September 13. The name change is a tribute to India's freedom fighters and highlights the island territory's unique role in the nation's struggle for independence. Shah took to his X handle and wrote, "Andaman & Nicobar Islands have an unparalleled place in our freedom struggle and history.
