Upset over taunts by in-laws over her complexion, a newly married woman allegedly died by suicide after jumping into a river in Punjab's Fazilka on July 21. The woman, who had been married for just three months, was left at her maternal home two days before the tragedy. Her family revealed that she had told them about her husband's alleged affair and the constant ridicule she faced from her in-laws about her skin tone. Overwhelmed by distress, she took the drastic step of ending her life. Her body was found in the river on July 23 morning, where she had jumped to her death.
