Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat recently said that leaders should step aside at 75. His statement on retirement age has gone viral on social media, sparking speculations. Notably, Mohan Bhagwat made the remark on Wednesday, July 9, during a book release event dedicated to late RSS ideologue Moropant Pingley in Nagpur. Bhagwat specifically referred to Pingley's comments that when the shawl of 75 years is draped over one, it means that he has reached a certain age and should step aside and allow others to work. "When you turn 75, it means you should stop now and make way for others," he said. The RSS Chief further said, "Moropant Pingle once said that if you are honoured with a shawl after turning 75, it means that you should stop now, you are old; step aside and let others come in." Two days after Bhagwat's remark, Congress took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the RSS chief's remarks on stepping aside at 75 years of age. Taking to X, Congress general secretary in-charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said, "Poor award-seeking Prime Minister! What a homecoming this is - on returning he was reminded by the Sarsanghchalak that he will turn 75 on 17 September 2025." Ramesh further said that PM Moid can also tell Mohan Bhagwant that he too will turn 75 on September 11. "One arrow, two targets!" he added. ‘RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Leads Sangh, Not Hinduism’: Swami Ramabhadracharya on Temple-Mosque Controversy (Watch Video).
