A brawl erupted at Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi during Diwali celebrations on Tuesday evening. The scuffle occurred after members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the BJP, organised a rangoli-making event. Tensions escalated when another group reportedly disrupted the event by damaging the rangolis and kicking away diyas, triggering a confrontation. Video clips circulating on social media show both groups engaging in physical altercations and chanting slogans, with some claiming chants of “Palestine Zindabad” were used to disrupt the Diwali celebrations. Police were deployed to maintain order near Gate No. 7 of the campus. Deputy Commissioner of Police Southeast, Ravi Kumar, confirmed that the altercation involved students from both sides engaging in slogan exchanges, and the ABVP stated that the incident’s root cause is still under investigation. Delhi: Students Raised ‘Babri’ Slogans, Showed Placards Inside Jamia Millia Islamia University Campus on Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Day; University Looking Into Matter, Says Police.
