A Class 10 student died by suicide at her residence in Shantikunj, Narmadapuram, on Monday afternoon, triggering shock and grief in the locality. The deceased, identified as Shubhi Rajput, was a student of Servite Convent Higher Secondary School. The incident occurred around 2:30 pm when Shubhi allegedly hanged herself at home while her mother was on the terrace. Earlier in the day, the school had held a parents’ meeting during which pre-board examination results were shared. According to preliminary information, Shubhi had scored lower than expected. After returning home from the meeting, her mother went upstairs, and during this time the student took the extreme step. When her mother came downstairs and found her hanging, neighbours were alerted and Shubhi was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Police said a case has been registered and the body was sent for post-mortem.
