Omar Abdullah, on October 14, announced the receipt of a letter from the Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. This correspondence formally invites Abdullah to undertake the formation of the next government in the region, subsequent to the recent elections in which Jammu and Kashmir’s electorate returned the National Conference to power by awarding them 42 seats in the newly delimited 90-member legislative assembly.
