Charlotte, a notable stingray at the North Carolina Aquarium, recently passed away due to rare reproductive disease. She gained attention in 2020 by becoming pregnant without a male companion, a rare phenomenon known as parthenogenesis. This unique reproductive method allowed Charlotte to produce offspring genetically identical to herself. In February, Charlotte was said to be carrying as many as four young. The Aquarium & Shark Lab by Team ECCO, the North Carolina, posted on their page about the demise of Charlotte which marks a significant loss. The aquarium remains temporarily closed while the staff takes care of other fish and animals. World’s Largest Freshwater Fish Found in Cambodia!
