HS Prannoy had to settle for the bronze medal after he lost the men's singles badminton semifinal to China's Li Shifeng in Asian Games 2023. Prannoy lost the match in straight sets (21-16, 21-9) after a good start with Shifeng dictating proceedings. Nonetheless, it is a historic moment for India in badminton as it is first singles medal in the sport for India at the Asian Games since 1982.
