This was the 12th medal won by India at the Paris Paralympics 2024 so far. Suhas Yathiraj had interestingly lost to the same opponent in the final of Men's Singles SL4 event at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
Suhas Yathiraj won the silver medal in the Men's Singles SL4 para-badminton event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on Monday, September 2. The Indian star para-shuttler lost 9-21, 13-21 to France's Lucas Mazur in the final to settle for the silver medal. Suhas Yathiraj did not get off to a good start and his opponent Lucas Mazur on the other hand, did not lose control over the game at all. Backed by the audience, Mazur's dominance on this contest only grew with time. He went on to win the first game by a dominant margin of 21-9. Suhas Yathiraj put up an improved show in the second game but Lucas Mazur did not let go of the momentum, being cheered by the crowd as he won every point. The Indian lost the second game but ensured that he added a silver to the nation's medal tally.
