The New Zealand women's team captain had a part of her foot on the line but that was not enough as the TV umpire adjudged it out. Sophie Devine scored just two runs off five deliveries, in a bid to chase down India's target of 228.
Deepti Sharma ran out Sophie Devine with Yastika Bhatia showing her quick thinking behind the stumps, during the IND-W vs NZ-W 1st ODI 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 24. This happened in the 12th over of the run chase when Sophie Devine came down the track and defended a delivery by Deepti Sharma. The New Zealand women's national cricket team captain then stood outside the crease for a while and Deepti Sharma threw the ball to Yastika Bhatia, who took out the bails right in time before Sophie Devine could make it back in. The umpire referred this decision to the third umpire and the India women's national cricket team was able to see the back of the White Ferns captain after the big screen showed 'OUT'.
