Mohammed Shami scripted his best-ever figures in ODI cricket as India beat Australia by five wickets in the 1st ODI of the series on Friday, September 22. The right-arm fast bowler showed why he was such an important member of the team as he broke the back of the Australian batting, restricting their effort to 276 after KL Rahul put them to bat first. Chasing 277 to win, India rode on half-centuries from Ruturaj Gaikwad (71) and Shubman Gill (71) to get off to a strong start before calm half-centuries from skipper Rahul (58*) and Suryakumar Yadav (50) guided the Men in Blue home in 48.4 overs. Mohammed Siraj Hugs Mohammed Shami After Veteran Indian Pacer Takes Five-Wicket Haul During IND vs AUS 1st ODI 2023, Picture Goes Viral.
