Shaheen Afridi reached out to his teammate and debutant Zaman Khan, who bowled a decent last over in Pakistan's defeat to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 Super Four stage on September 14. Having eight runs to defend, the ODI debutant hit the right areas and bowled well. But Sri Lanka's Charith Asalanka was able to edge a ball past the wicketkeeper for a four before scoring the winning runs. In a video that has emerged, Afridi, the senior member, was seen hugging and consoling Zaman who was heartbroken following this defeat.
