Sri Lankan captain Wanindu Hasaranga has stepped down from the role of captain ahead of facing India in three-match T20I series at home. Hasaranga led Sri Lanka in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 but couldn't deliver desired results as they couldn't qualify for the Super 8 and were knocked out of the group stages. The Sri Lankan spinner, who was appointed as the T20I captain, only last year, led the team in 10 matches.
