East Bengal gained bragging rights in the Kolkata derby, beating Mohun Bagan Super Giant 2-1 in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) 2024 on Saturday, July 13. The Red and Gold Brigade took the lead in the 51st minute of the game, with PV Vishnu finding the back of the net. East Bengal doubled their lead in the 65th minute with substitute player Jesin TK. East Bengal were on course for a 2-0 win, but Mohun Bagan Super Giant pulled one back in added time with Suhail Bhat scoring. But that was not enough for Mohun Bagan Super Giant as they finished on the losing side, despite East Bengal being reduced to 10 men, with Joseph Justin seeing a second yellow card and being sent off.
