Luis Diaz netted a hattrick and Cody Gapko added another goal as Arne Slot’s Liverpool take top spot in the UEFA Champions League 2024-25 standings with a 4-0 win over Leverkusen.
Bayer Leverkusen was a team to beat last season winning the Bundesliga and making it to the UEFA Champions League 2024-25. But Xabi Alonso’s ‘return’ to Anfield was not as planned for the Spanish star. His side stood no chance against Liverpool FC with Luis Dias scoring a hattrick for the Reds. Cody Gapko also scored in the 63rd minute. After the win, Liverpool now stands at the top of the UEFA Champions League 2024-25 standings with four wins in as many matches.
