An unfortunate incident unfolded during the FIBA World Cup 2023 as a Serbian Basketball Player named Borisa Simanic was severely injured during a pool game against South Sudan and his damaged Kidney had to be removed by surgery. The incident occurred near the end of Serbia’s first-round game against South Sudan when Simanic was defending opposition player, Nuni Omot, under the Serbia basket. Omot's elbow hit Simanic and he was immediately carried off.
