Shirel Golan, Who Survived October 7 Attack by Hamas at Nova Music Festival, Dies by Suicide on Her Birthday; Family Alleges Lack of Assistance From Israeli Government Over PTSD

Shirel Golan, a survivor of the Nova attack, died by suicide on October 21, what would have been her 22nd birthday. Golan had been struggling with severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following the traumatic events of October 7, 2023. Originally set to celebrate her special day with family, Golan was discovered lifeless at her home in Porat, near Netanya.  Golan’s brother, Eyal, expressed outrage over the state’s failure to provide the necessary support for mental health issues in the aftermath of the massacre. “If the state had taken care of her, none of this would have happened,” he stated in Hebrew media. “The State of Israel killed my sister twice. A Nova survivor, Shirel Golan, ended her life on her 22nd birthday today after a year of struggling with PTSD.

Shiral Golan was a Nova survivor.
