After Afghanistan won the toss and elected to field, Abhishek went on the offensive from the opening over, exploiting fielding restrictions with ruthless precision. Finding the boundary with remarkable consistency, he raced through the Powerplay by targeting both pace and spin with equal authority.
He brought up his century in the ninth over, having dispatched nine fours and ten sixes to leave the Afghan bowling attack without answers. His boundary assault maintained a strike rate in excess of 320, ensuring India posted an overwhelmingly dominant scoring platform inside the first half of the innings.
Rewriting the Record Books
The 29-ball milestone surpasses the previous Indian record held by former captain Rohit Sharma, who reached a 35-ball hundred against Sri Lanka in Indore in December 2017. Among ICC full-member nations, Abhishek's knock also ranks as the fastest hundred in men's T20I history, bettering the joint 35-ball record previously shared by Rohit and South Africa's David Miller
