Ajinkya Rahane who was last seen in action while playing the test match series between India and England has been dropped from the Asia Cup 2018. The cricketer will now be seen leading the Mumbai team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which will begin next week. The Vijay Hazare Trophy, which is played for 50 overs will be played from September 19-October 20th. Rahane who could not perform well in the test series managed to score only 257 runs from 10 innings. Check out the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2018 

Shreyas Iyer who has also been snubbed from the Asia Cup 2018 will be seen in the role of a vice-captain. Former Mumbai Captain Aditya Tare has also secured his place in the squad. Prithvi Shaw who was recently picked for the Indian squad for the fourth and the fifth test match against England also features in the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad. Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav is also expected to play for the tournament for his team Vidarbha. He was a part of the Indian squad which travelled to England. The pacer was however ignored for the Asia Cup 2018.  For the first time, the trophy will witness the participation of Meghalaya and the team will be led by Jason Lamare. Punit Singh Bisht will be the vice-captain for the team.

Talking about Mumbai, the team will begin their campaign by playing against Baroda in Alur. Mumbai has been grouped with Baroda, Karnataka, Railways, Vidarbha, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Goa and Maharashtra in the league phase.
