India take on England in the second Test at the iconic Lord’s cricket ground from August 09 onwards. The visitors lost the opening Test at Edgbaston by 31 runs and conceded a 0-1 lead to England. The Virat Kohli-led side will be hoping to draw level in the second Test. And for that, team India can take a cue from the 2014 Lord’s Test between the two sides. During the 2014 tour, India and England played the second Test of the five-match series at Lord’s and it was the visitors who emerged victorious.

After the first Test ended in a draw, India took a 1-0 lead at Lord’s thanks to the impressive 95-run win. India, however, lost the subsequent three Tests and the series 3-1. India put to bat first, scored 295 in their first innings. Middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane was the star performer for the side as he scored 103 runs. The next best contribution came from Bhuvneshwar Kumar who made 36 whole batting at nine.

In response, England managed to score 319 with Garry Ballance scoring 110 and Liam Plunkett finishing unbeaten on 55. Bhuvneshwar registered figures of 6/82 as England managed to secure a small lead of 24 runs.

In the second innings, Indian batsmen dished out a better performance and posted 342 runs on board. Opener Murali Vijay scored 95 while Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar chipped in with 68 and 52 respectively. India needed ten wickets to win the Test and fast bowler Ishant Sharma picked seven of those. The lanky pacer dismantled England’s middle-order to hand India a win. Ishant scalped career-best 74/7 and walked away with Man of the Match award.

Meanwhile, India will be hoping that Ishant emulates his performance this time around. The pacer did well in the first Test as he picked six wickets in the match, including a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
