West Indies showed a great performance in the 1st ODI to defeat India at MA Chidambaram stadium. The Caribbean side won the match by 8 wickets as Shimron Hetmyer smashed a 139-run knock. Shai Hope also hit a century (102) to deny India of any chances of victory. India scored 287-8 batting first in match, however, Indian bowlers failed against the West Indies' top order. West Indies easily chased down the 288-run target after Indian team scored 287-8 while batting first. While Pant smashed 71 runs, Shreyas Iyer accounted for 70. Asked to bat first, India witnessed Rohit Sharma (36), Kedar Jadhav (40), Rishabh Pant (71) and Shreyas Iyer (70) playing some good knocks. However, Indian bowlers could not defend the target which took a toll on Virat Kohli and company.  India vs West Indies ODI series 2019 consists of three matches. The 2nd ODI will be played on December 18 in Visakhapatnam while the 3rd ODI will be played at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on December 22.
